FALSE DECLARATION
LOSS OF INSURANCE WOMAN'S FOOLISH ACT (Per Press Association.) OAMAR.U, last night. At the Magistrate’s Court this afternoon, Cicely King pleaded guilty to attempting to obtain £25 5s from the National Insurance Company hy a false pretence. The evidence disclosed that the Inmit m e had lieen held under a hire purchase agreement, but King made a declaration that iiti other person had nil inLcresl in the furniture, later admitting that, certain articles had been sold before the lire destroyed the house and its contents. The assessor's list showed that furniture was listed as £259 and the insurance as £2OO. As the result ol King’s action she had lost all the insurance. The magistrate. Mr. [|. W. liimdle, said that King had acted in a very foolish way. lie was unable to think that I he. ease was one calling tor imprisonment . King elected lo lie dealt with summarily. and was convicted and admitted to probation for 12 months and ordered fo pav the expenses of the prosecution. £f> His 9d.
