COURT INTERVENES

FELLMONGERY STRIKE EFFORT AT SETTLEMENT SYDNEY, Sept. 25. The deputy-registrar of the Federal Arbitration Court convened a meeting of representatives of employers and employees in the fellmongcry dispute. At the compulsory conference the union officials promised to place the case for a settlement before members to-morrow. The registrar suggested that, the strikers should return to work, and that their case for the rescission of the 10 per cent wages cut would he referred to the Arbitration Court, Another dispute has arisen at the abattoirs, where 400 men ceased work as a protest against the reallocation of space allotments-by the superintendent, which meant the dismissal of five men. As a result the others struck. Only mutton slaughtermen are affected. The trouble is not connected with the Botany dispute.
