The barometer had commenced a rising movement. Temperatures at 9'o’clock ’ were: Auckland, Napier, and Welling- 1 ton 50 degrees, Tauranga 57, Opotiki 53, East Cape 49, and Gisborne 51. ; Rough seas were reported at Napier, • East Cape, and Tiritiri; elsewhere moderate to smooth. Last Night’s Forecast An intense anticyclone is advancing on to Now Zealand, its centre to-day being over Tasmania. Winds: Southerly, strong and squally along the east coast and about Cook Strait, but decreasing and otherwise moderate. Seas: Rough north of Farewell Spit and south of East Cape; elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea : Moderate southerly, winds: seas moderate, bub with considerable swell at first. Weather: Mainly fair to fine in tile western districts ; elsewhere changeable with scattered showers, but shortly becoming fine again generally. Cold temperatures, with inland frosts. Midday Forecast General inference. —An intense and extensive anticyclone covers the Tasman Sea and New Zealand, its centre being over Tasmania.
