THEFT OF RINGS
TWO JEWELLERS ROBBED (Pin- Press Association.) GIIEYMOUTH, this day. Two jewellers’ shops were robbed of rings at Greymouth yesterday by a man believed to be unemployed, who was subsequently arrested. Asking to sec an engagement ring at TennenFs, lie distracted "Mr. Tenuent’s attention, removing one of the rings and saying that lie would like his lianeee to see one that he liked. Mr. Tewient then discovered his loss and informed the police. In the meantime the man laid gone into Gilbert’s shop in the next block, adopting similar tactics, and securing a £27 ling from a lady assistant who, later, followed and identified him in all hotel bar, as also did Mr. Tennent. A constable, on arrival,, saw him drop one ring on the floor, and the other ring was found behind a barrel. The arrested man will appear iu court to-dav.
