S'limiy Soul;, a full-sister to Sunny Sky, is a surprise entry among tile hurdlers at Teuton. Not many of the Hunting Songs have been jumped, and, although Aladdin seemed to show that this sire would get good jumpers, it must be remembered that Aladdin came from excellent maternal jumping stock.

It. McKenzie by A.) S. Ellis. Sho gave a lot of trouble at the start, and upset some of the others, while slm settled her own chances by failing to move off the line. She is a nicy-looking filly, bill will have to mend her barrier manners to do herself justice in a race.

Solenoid has been the unlucky horse of the season in England. Up to duly 26. he had had six races for as many minor plaeings. He was runner-up in the Lincolnshire, the Newbury Spring Cup, the Victoria Cup, and the Ribblesdale Stakes, and he was third in both the dulv Cup and the Stewards’ Cup. Ho carried big weights in the handicaps. Ho will be remembered as last year’s outside winner in the Stewards’ Cup.

Revision, a year younger full-sister to Landmark, is to be given an opportunity also at hurdling, and she has been nominated to race over fences at Fox ton and Otaki. She was useful on the flat, and inav make a good hurdler.

The success of Ranclagli in the Geraldine Cup was the result of his best effort over a middle distance. lie lias invariably failed to cover much ground, but be was patiently bandied on this occasion, and the small Held was also in his favor. The silver cup attached fo Iho stake was presented by the president, Mr. -L C. Smith, after the race to Hie winner’s owner-trainer, A. E. Worliiald, and Mr. A. E. RJiind replied on behalf of the recipient.

Guysoine, winner of the Oh api Handicap at Geraldine, is a three-year-old filly by Arrowsimth from Gay Vera. She displayed fair promise in juvenile events last season, being only once out of a place in the three races that she contested. fn the above-named race Gaysomc accounted for several speedy hacks, and more successes are likely to come, her way before the spring meetings are over. # * * # New Zealand interest will be particularly centred in Rand wick on Saturday, when the A.J.G. meeting will be opened. The principal •lirst-tlay events are the Epsom Handicap and l the A.J.G’. Derby. The weight-fur-age event will be the Spring Elate, IJ miles. He won the Wellington Pacing Club Handicap in March at his last start in the Dominion. •* * * * Golden t luiuce, the two-year-old brother to Golden Wings, has been nominated for a juvenile race at the Foxton meeting, to be held on September 30. His stableinate, Brown Betty, by Lackham from Signal March, also figures in the same race, am! both youngsters are expected to carry out their engagements. Golden Chance has been in work fur some time and is reported to be very speedy, but is not being hurried in bis preparation.

Hoy ill Hunting's brilliancy out of the barrier won the Flying Handicap at Wanganui for liim. both Ked Mantled and Curie were overhauling him last at the finish, lied Manfred ran a fine rare in view of his Guineas engagement, partienlarlv .as it w;is his first of the season appearance. In this respect both Ifoyal Hunting and Curie held the advantage. Curie, who was an each-way favorite, ran a good solid race. View Halloo ran well, but was always outpaced by the three in front.

The features of the second’ division of the Flying Handicap at liuscoery on Wednesday week were the outstanding betting plunge on the New Zealander, Movie him', his elear-eut victory, and tlio remarkable run he secured near the rails w!)en coining into the straight (says the Herald). I'ersian, from d. T. Jamieson's stable, was the opening favorite, hut there did not seem airy keen desire to support him, so that when support came for Movie Star Persian receded, Lady Wolaroi ousting him from second favoritism. Although statements were current that Movie Star had bled alter his last race, this did not prevent the public from showing the utmost eoiiliilenee, and when the lield lined up it was impossible to secure better than very short odds about him, this price being obtainable in only isolated quarters. Persian and Kory O'Moi’e set about tiie pace-making, and tliev were, followed most of the way by Callage, with Movie Star in fourth place. Coming to the turn into the straight the leaders went wide. i. \\ ebsler was there to lake fall advantage of the situs tion. and urging Movie Star along the N'ew Zealander was in charge at the lurking post, eventually winning by three lengths from the outsiders, Psalmist and Highbov, who made up a lot of ground in the straight. Highboy coming through close in. while Psalmist was in the mid die of the course.
