THE WEATHER To-Day’s North Island Report. Blue skies were reported this morning at Napier, Gisborne, and in tiie Hay of Plenty, but- overcast conditions prevailed elsewhere in the North Island, with rain at Wellington. Light northwesterly breezes were blowing at Gisborne, and light to fresh south-wester-lies elsewhere. The barometer', had fallen slightly during the week-end. Temperatures at 9 o’clock were: Auckland, Tauranga, and East Cape 57 degrees. Opotiki and Napier 55, Gisborne 58, and Wellington 54. Moderate or smooth seas were reported everywhere. An anticyclone covers the greater part of Australia and extends over the North Tasman, while a series of low pressure waves lias been moving across tins south Tasman and southern New Zealand. Winds: Westerly and backing soon to southerlies, and freshening somewhat. Seas (N.Z. waters): Rather rough north of Farewell Spit and about Foveaux Strait; elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to fresh southwest winds and .moderate seas. Weather: Still generally fair, but some scattered showers likely, mainly on the coast and in places with a westerly aspect: temperatures becoming cooler.
