DEMAND FOR RELIEF
THAMES RATEPAYERS (Per Press Association.) TJIAMBS, this day. A representative meeting of ratepayers considered the reply of the Borough Commissioner. Mr. ( Tange, to a deputation seeking substantial relief from rating. The commissioner could promise no immediate, relief. lie said deputations were not only inelfective. hut harmful, and deprecated the undue publicity, which he considered was inclined grossly to exaggerate the position. The meeting decided to call a further public meeting of ratepayers next Monday and to invite tile commissioner, the Mayor, and Mr. A. Ai. Samuel, M.P.. to he present, and to pass a resolution to lie presented to the Cabinet- seeking relit'!', which il is considered the. Thames ’Borough Commissioner Act does not provide as promised.
