STILL UNSETTLED
CONDITIONS IN CUBA QI'ARRELSOM 10 LEADERS ( Kecei ved Sept. 11,2 p.m.) HAVANA. Sept. 10. The American warship Indianapolis, with Mr Swanson, the United States Secretary to the Navy, on hoard, has left- Panama by request of Air. Sumner Welles, who has now changed his headquarters to the National Hotel, lie told Air Swanson the populace was determined to prevent intervention. There .are frequent personal quarrels in the junta of live, due to each wanting 11 1 <■ job of President. The present leader, t olonel Matista, a former sergeant, has been elected head of the army, with the runlc of colonel. The officers barricaded themselves in the National Hotel, refusing to return to the army. They express regret that the Americans did not land troops, saying the United Slates (iovermnent was within 100 miles of iis shores.
American destroyers and seaplanes are stationed in every Cuban port. The n'.ihvaymeu threaten to strike if somebody does not pay them the arrears of wages very soon.
