On Monday night the euchre party in aid of the Catholic Church was very Weil patronised and gives every promise of being increasingly popular. The .ladies’ prize, was won by Mrs. Maddock with 10 games, and the gentlemen’s by ,Mrj lr. Bush wifh nine games. Other prizes went to Mrs, Holder, sen., and Mr. L. Miillaney. Afterwards the ladies’ ’committee, served supper. Miss O’Conner, who has been in charge of the Wigan School for some years, has received notiCe of her transfer. She was the guest of honor at a party when the pupils presented her with a complete copy of Masefield’s poems. Miss O’Conner was very popular with her pupils and with the.general public, and she will be missed, but all her friends are delighted that she is being transferred to a higher grade school.
