TREND IN READING SYDNEY, Aug, 3. Mr. P. V, Cave, general manger of Messrs. Eyre and Spottiswoode (Publishers), Limited, of London, who arrived in Sydney yesterday, said that tho people of England were reading more seriously than formerly. Good biographies were in demand. The sex novel had practically killed itself. Galsworthy was still selling well, and Bernard Shaw continued to be in demand. Hugh Walpole was amongst the most popular of tho novelists. Charles Morgan, author of “The Fountain,” one of tho most widely read of recent whiles, was also iu vogue. Mr. Cave expressed satisfaction at the encouragement being given Australian authors from various quarters, He said that he had arranged to publish a book by Sir John Kirwan, M.L.C., of Western Australia, on northern Western Australia. The book would give British readers information, about what- to thehi was unknown 'territory.
