PRIMARY SCHOOLS’ TEAM SELECTION FOR WAIROA GAME Selectors for the * primary schools' Rugby football representatives in Poverty Bay have had a large field to cover j in their effort to secure the best team available to send to Wairoa on Saturday next. The Gisborne schools’ team will meet the Wairoa primary schools’ representatives in a curtain-raiser match to the major attraction, the return game between Wairoa and East Coast, and a considerable amount or interest will at. tach to the result of the game. The Poverty Bay players chosen for iho trip comprise:— Fullback, V. Smale (Gisborne Central) ; three-quarters, R. Smith (AwApuni), S. Boocock (Awapuni), and P. O’Rourke (Ormond); five-eighths, B. Neill (Manutuke), and F. Edmondson (Awapuni); half-back, P. Smiler. (Patutalii) ; forwards, A. Somers (Marist), H. McMillan (Awapuni), D. Caldwell (Gisborne Central), M. Paratene (Manutuke), G. Bowman (Te Hapara), A. Hamon (Te Hapara), and R. Beets (Te Hapara). Emergencies for the team will be T. Ruru (Patutahi) and F. Hollis (Marist), the last-named being a forward. Arrangements for transport have been made with the Whitfield service. Town players named above must assemble at the Whitfield office at 1.30 p.m. on Friday, and country players will be picked up at Aiicell’s store at Makaraka, at the Patutalii turn-off, and at Hebenton’s store, Manutuke. The team will he accommodated at Wairoa on Friday night, and will return on Saturday evening. Mr. N. Gilchrist lias been appointed manager.

WAIROA SUB-UNION (Herald Correspondent.) The weekly meeting of the Wairoa Rugby Sub-union was held on Monday evening, Mr A. G. Nolan presiding. There ; "were present also Messrs. ,T. 'T. ltobson, T. French, A. J. Anderson,. J. Milne, R. M. McDonald, J. McGregor, and 11. Millar, hon. secretary. \The registrations of two players with Pirates’ seniors and Whakaki seniors respectively were approved. It was decided that the match between the 'Poverty Bay and Wairoa primary schools representative teams should be played ,as a curtain-raiser to the senior representative game between East Coast and Wairoa on Saturday.
