AUSTRALIA’S NAVY
INCREASE IN STRENGTH (Received May 16, 11 a.m.) CANBERRA, May 16. The cruiser Australia will shortly be refitted and transferred to the Royal Navy in exchange for a Leander type, which is coming here. The Government hopes, when the financial position permits, to haye au Australian squadron of four Lwaders, a flotilla of destroyers, and the aircraft carrier Albatross, which is to be reconmiiasigned* as well as purvey sloops.
