WELLINGTON TITLE GISBORNE PLAYER'S TRIUMPH (Per Pr«H« Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. Miss Barns-Graham, Poverty Buy, earned the reward of brilliant play in the provincial golf championship, winning the title when she defeated Miss V. Fleming, Christchurch, in the final. The game was taken to the twentieth hole, the new champion playing a beautiful chip to the lip of the hole, taking five to her opponent’s six. The Heretaunga Trophy was won by Miss Chrystall, who beat Miss Vincent (Masterton) 2 and 1. The medal foursome was won by Misses Culling and Rathbone (Auckland) their card reading : 87—9—78. Mrs. Parkin and Mrs. llanson took the prize for the best net score. PREVIOUS DAY’S PLAY MISS BARNS-GRAHAM’S BRILLIANCE The highlight in the first round, comments the Dominion, was the 80 turned on by Miss Barns-Graham, a youthful Gisborne player, who defeated Mrs. Peacocke (Wellington) by 6 and 5. The Poverty Bay club player comes of a golfing family, as her lather is a wellknown exponent of the game, and her brother. Botli had lapses on the out journey, which the Gisborne player, did in 46 to Mrs. Wilson’s 47, and they turned for home all square. Both played really good golf on the run home, which Miss Barns-Graham did in 39 to Mrs, Wilson’s 40..
