FREEZING DISPUTE
OFFICIAL TERMINATION NO ACTION DECIDED UPON Although action in tho direction of officially terminating tlie freezing works dispute, which has continued since last October, lias been considered, no definite decision has been readied by the Federation of Freezing Workers’ Unions, A meeting of representatives of provincial unions met in Wellington recently ami considered the question. Tho conference, which was an ordinary executive gathering, was to have met as a council of action with definite authority to act iri tho dispute, but did not meet except as an executive.
It was stated ballots would be taken by provincial unions throughout New Zealand on the question, but, this has not yet been done. At a meeting held in Auckland a ballot was taken, and it is understood tlie majority of those present were, in favor of terminating the strike. The decision reached, however, represented only tho feeling of the meeting, and not the wishes of all members of the Auckland Union.
