A well-known horseman, Mr. A. S Buckland, suffered painful though superficial head injuries to-day, when a pair of ponies double-hitched in a light gift which he was driving took fright in Lowe street and bolted, throwing Mr. Buck land out on to the bitumen paving. The ponies continued their holt across (Hadstone road, fortunately Uncling the main traffic avenue dear, though it was near tho noon hour Careering down Lowe street towards the Taruhoru River, they collided with a culvert, overturning the gig, smashing the shafts and bringing down one of the horses. The gig was almost reduced to matchwood, but tho horses escaped injury, so far as could he seen. After attention at a nearby chemist’s, Mr. Buckland was driven to his home, the experience having occasioned somo shock to tho victim.
