Bowls. —The prominent parts taken by town clubs’ representatives in the Burton Trophy tournament, leading places in all three sections being held against strong competition from visiting rinks. Rowing.—The success of the Poverty Bay Rowing Club in the Neill Shield sculling contests at Wairoa, and the ■parallel success of the Gisborne Rowing Club in the Pair-oar Shield contests, rowed on the same course against competition from Wairoa and Napier. Rifle shooting.—Gisborne Defence Rifle Club’s success in the .Collins 'hield match at the Hawke's Bay Rifle Association’s annual shoot at Tastings.
