POLICE ACTIVITY i | | SEVERAL MEN REMANDED I Following on a police raid on sust pected premises, in connection with I alleged gambling activities, several men appeared briefly before Mr. J. H. Ormond, J.P., in the Police Court this afternoon, and were remanded on the application of Detective McLeod, v. 110 conducted the proceedings on behalf of , the police. 1 First of those who appeared was ■ Arthur Owen, who was charged that, being the occupier of premises at 10 Gladstone road, he did keep and use the same as a common gaming house. Owen ; was remanded until May 8, bail being allowed in his own recognisance oi 1100. i Frederick Lawrenco Kenny, charged j with aiding and assisting Arthur Owen in the premises referred ni the previous charge, was remanded to the same date, on his own recognisance ot LoU. Harold Littler, also charged with assisting Arthur Owen, was granted ban i K his own recognisance, the amount ; being £SO. ... I Samuel James Bardwell, charged with , keeping premises at 71 Gladstone roacl as a common gaming liouse, was remanded, hajl being allowed on the same terms as for Owen. . , George Frederick Bardwell, charged with being found 011 premises used, lor earning, was remanded on £5 bail. John Bradley, charged ni the same terms as Arthur Owen and Samuel Bardwell, was released on bail, 111 his own recognisance of £IOO. George Fisher Mackay, found on Bradley’s premises, was released on to b 'Johannes Carl Herman Most, charged w-ith aiding and assisting Bradley, was also remanded to May 8, bail in his case being fixed at £SO.
