PARNELL VISIT HOME SIDE OPENS WELL OAKSOX DISMISSED I'OK 23 Tin* Easter cricket fixture between ilie visting Parnell team and the Poverty Bay senior representatives commenced at the Oval this morning, Poverty Bay winning the t-o.ss, and going in to bat. The Parnell team, which won the Auckland senior championship, included two New Zealand representatives, P. E. Whitelaw and 11. G. Vivian, and more than usual in .crest was shown in the match, especially in view of the lateness id' the season, the game being commenced before a well-tilled stand. Tin 1 following teams were fielded:— Parnell. —11. Duncan (captain), P. E. Whitelaw, 11. (1. Vivian, A. W. McCoy, ,1. Scholium, D. Hawke, 11. Webb, U. Wallace, M. Wallace, E. Goods!r, and V. Wilson.
Poverty Bay. —G. N. Lockett (cap tain), M. K. Boon (vice-captain), W Parson, M. (Sharp, 0. «J. Robertson, S Ward, S. Reeves, B. Scholium, 0, Eraser, P. Dow, and E. Dow.
Robertson and Parson opened for Poverty Bay, and Parson’s was the first wicket to fall. He scored a couple of fours early in his innings, but when he had scored 211 the High School lad played a ball from McCoy on to his wicket, the partnership having produced 42. Eraser joined Robertson, and at midday the pair had carried the score on to OS, Robertson having scored 28 and Eraser JO.
