FORGERY ALLEGED

NAMES ON TRUST DEED PROFESSOR’S SON IN COURT COMMITTAL FOR TRIAL A charge of forging a deed of trust purporting to be between W. 11. Clould and B. E, Wright was preferred against Richard Roland Gould, son of Professor Gould, in the Police Court at Wellington on Wednesday before justices. Outlining the case for the police, De-tective-Sergeant Revel! said that in July, 1932, accused prepared a memorandum of association in connection with Concessions, Limited. Afterwards, accused was engaged to prepare a deed of trust. .Tt was left to accused to obtain suitable trustees. Accused arranged to have the deed printed. After inspecting proofs lie inserted at the bottom the names of W. If. Gould and B. E. Wright as trustees and the name 11. S. Gilby, company manager, as witness. Shortly after the deed appeared in printed form it came under the notice of Professor Gould and Dr. Wright, continued the detective-sergeant. Evidence would show that neither of these men had signed the deed or given accused permission to enter their names as trustees. They published a disclaimer, but by that time a man named Wade had purchased a. block of bonds for £25. After evidence had been heard accused pleaded not guilty and was committed to the Supremo Court for trial, bail being fixed at £SO and one surety of a similar amount.
