Say It In Sandwiches

A NOVEL form of donation—the offer of sandwiches for the buffet —rained in for a charity function to be held in London. “Fifty cheese sandwiches," was one Countess' offer. “Fifty tomato sandwiches" volunteered another important hostess. “I’ll give 100 fish sandwiches,’’ a third hostess announced. Four hundred sandwiches are being “collected" by this means. The Hostesses shuddered when 12 large cakes were appealed for by the organiser. “They won’t cat cake; give thorn buns," urged one -woman. “Everybody likes small buns.” Scones and small cakes were finally added to the \list.

Salt biscuits for the “slimming" people were also appealed for —and obtained.
