AIR LINER DISASTER VOSS’ PAST INVESTIGATED SMUGGLING ACTIVITIES (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received April 6, 3 p.m.) LONDON, April 5. The Daily Express’ Brussels correspondent says the Belgian experts examining the debris of the City of Liverpool decided that the fire started in the passengers’ lavatory, which is in the (ail of the machine. This is shown by the‘fact that the lavatory door was burnt on the inside only. The experts are convinced that Voss was in the lavatory as he leapt through the side door adjacent to the lavatory. The la,s.t two nights Voss and Bearden were in (Brussels were spent in cabarets entertaining w6men, Voss telling a girl she soon would see a lot about him in the newspapers. The men were drinking heavily. The Daily Express Manchester correspondent adds that Voss was a smuggler of heavily dutiable goods in connection with the dental business. Voss’ liabilities in Britain are estimated at £6OOO, and his debts, abroad at many thousands.
