LONDON’S UNDERGROUND
FURTHER EXTENSIONS LONGEST SECTION IN CITY (British Official Wireless.) Iter. 10' a. ill. RUGBY, Mar.-li 10. The second stage of the extension northwards and westwards of the Piccadilly underground railway, which will be opened oa Monday, is part of one of the biggest transport developments which have followed the phenomenal growth of greater London since the war. The first section was opened in September. and the full scheme will be completed in June. The section being opened on Monday carries the tube railway into the rurai district northwards from Finsbury Fark, and the new through artery from Hounslow, in the west, to North London, will be 24 miles long and provide the longest underground railway in London.
