In a luncheon address delivered today the secretary of the New South Males division of the Commonwealth Accountancy Students’ Society, Mr. John M. White, voiced the opinion that the sales tai was likely to be retained as a permanent means rtf raising Commonwealth revenue. He said that much of the objection to the tax Would be removed if the commissioner took a broader view of niany aspbets of its* incidence upon which his rulings: were based. No country which had tried the sales tax as a means of rajsing revenue had abandoned it, and after 2} years’ experifeiibe* Australia was becoming nceus’tombd to tlip tax,,.,,,,,,,,
