A RUGBY DISPUTE

APPEAL DISMISSED (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. Advice lias been received from the Rugby Football Union, England, that the Carterton club’s appeal against the decision of the New Zealand Rugby Union was not successful. Originally the Red Star Club 'protested against the action of the referee in the senior championship final, Red Star v. Carterton, in altering his decision, affecting the scoring of a try. The protest was upheld by the Wairara'pa Rugby Union, and its action was endorsed by the New Zealand Rugby Union. An appeal was made to the English Rugby Union, with the result that the New Zealand union’s decision has been endorsed.
