TOO MUCH LEGISLATION
AN EARL’S CRITICISM SYDNEY, Feb. 17. Addressing the Millions Club to-day the Earl of Pembroke, who recently arrived from London on a visit, said lie thought England and America, “and possibly Australia," had suffered from too much legislation. Politicians should realise that the happiest country was the one which had least legislation. With returning prosperity there must be a reduction in taxation, which was doing a great-deal to retard a return to bettor conditions. While some of the aims of Ottawa Confer* onueo sooined’ selfish, it must, be remembered that as the Empire returned to prosperity so would the rest of tho world recover.
