Generally lower temperatures were reported from most stations in the North’lsland this morning, Cape Maria reporting G 5 degrees, Auckland OS, Tauranga and Opotiki 72, East Cape and Gisborne 09, Napier 70, Castlepoint 50, and Cape Palliser 04. North of the East Cape, winds were reported as westerly or south-westerly, northwesterly at East Cape and northerly at Gisborne, with westerly and south - westerly prevailing to the southward of Gisborne, of generally moderate strength. Skies were overcast in the main, with tides moderate to good, and seas smooth with the . exception of Cape Palliser, where a considerable swell was ranging.
