USE OF TOWN HALL
AUCKLAND UNEMPLOYED (Per Presß Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. The Mayor,' Air. G. W. Hutchinson, to-day granted the request of a deputation from the Auckland Provincial Unemployed Workers’ Association for the free use of the Town Jilall for a meeting on Sunday. The spokesman said they desired the meeting to be as fully representative as possible of the whole community in order that non-unemployed should appreciate the plight Of the. workless. It, was not generally realised, for instance, that there were between BCO and 1200 men in Auckland living on 12s 6d a week. The particular grievances were the recent, 10 per cent, cut and the inability of the unemployed to meet their rent. Assurances were given that the meeting would he well conducted.
