PETROL TRUCK
PALLS PROM LINE TO ROAD 6000 GALLONS LOST K A TOO.MB A, N.S.W., Nov. 10. A sensational railway accident took place this morning, when a truck with a tank containing more than 6000 gallons id' petrol left the rails about 50 yards on tlie east side of Leura railway ■station, tearing up the sleepers for the whole length of the platform. About 200 yards on the Kntoomba side of the station the tanker toppled over, and, breaking the couplings, fell on to the road below, narrowly missing a bungalow. After hitting the road the top of the tank was wrenched, oil', and the. petrol escaped and rushed down the gullies in a torrent. Men and boys caught it in buckets, taking it to waiting cars. Whoa the tunic toppled over the bank it dragged with .it, an empty coal hopper, a cattle truck, and a truck full of sleepers. It, was necessary to lower tho trucks on to the roadway to clear the line for traffic.
