A POPULAR CONCERT RESTORATION FUND Marked success attended Hie concert’ held last night in aid of tho Holy Trinity Church restoration fund in the, St. Andrew’s schoolroom, which had been, loaned by the Presbyterian ’Church, authorities. >' The (hall was filled to overflowing, and:; throughout tho evening no item failed ter, capture tho attention of an appreciative; audience. The conceit was arranged byMr. Sydney 'Francis Moben. who himself, contributed an interesting talk on famous’ musicians and artists. Prior to his own item, Canon A. F. Hall, on behalf oi. Holy Trinity -Church, took the opportunity of thanking those present for their attendance, Mrs. F. !■ Parsons and Miss J. Selves for the trouble they' had gone to in decorating the ball, and Ch lisps, Limited. The programme opened with two pianoforte solos by Miss Alfrecla Blackburn. who played a prelude and fugue by Bach, and’ a Sonata, Opus 26, by Beethoven. Miss Blackburn, whose per-,: Tor nun ice last night was her debut to; the Gisborne public, was excellently received and followed her two set pieces with an encore.

In introducing to the public the; Arthur Somerville vocal setting of Tenny-" soil’s poem, “Alaiitt,” Canon Hall explained that it consisted of 12 songs, six of which ‘he sang after his remarks, and the remaining six later on in the evening.
