SHOW OPENS TO-MORROW

BIG SIDE-SHOW INCREASE JUDGING TO START AT 9 A.M. Everything is ready for the opening of the fifty-third Poverty Bay A. and P. Show to-morrow. The weather lias kept reasonably fine to enable the final pr. partitions of the grounds to proceed, and everything is in order. The grounds were a scene of activity yesterday morning, when the side-show space was allocated. The large number of sideshowineii on the grounds surprised the officials whose duty it was to deal with them, and when a count was made it was found that there was a substantial increase over those conducting entertainments and stalls last year. The space allotted to them was fully taxed, suggesting the provision of an even greater area, for future use by this important section of the Show. In all, 45 spaces were allocated for sideshows and stalls.

One of the most recently completed buildings on the ground was a new wing to the sheep pavilion. This has 100 pens, and, together with the previa us accommodation, should be ample to cope with all the sheep offering, as well as the overflow of pigs from their own shelter, without having to put any in uncovered pens. The new section of the sheep pavilion is completed so far as the actual construction work is concerned, hut tile floor has yet to be levelled. This is a work to be accomplished during the coining year.

An innovation in the AberdeenAncus and Hereford divisions of the cattle section is the donation of a silver cup for most points secured in each of the breeds mentioned. Various sup-

•lorters of these breeds have combined to donate these trophies, which are to be presented to the winners by Air. C. 11. Williams after the completion of the judging to-morrow.

Judging in some sections will commence at 9 a.m. to-morrow, and to enable tho staff to make an early start at the grounds' a Inis will leave the Post Office at 7.30 o’clock.

To-morrow’s judging will include all cattle, except cows in milk, ail stud sheep and crossbred hoggets, produce and cooking, dog trials, and fleeces, while among the horses there arc to be like it. light-, hack, harness and yony, and certain of the competitions classes. One of the features of tile Show for stock breeders and wool growers will he lectures given by members of the Alassev College staff. The first is scheduled for 3 p.m. to-morrow by the principal of the college. Professor Peren.
