Tills .ompany reports Inning struck oil iu a deep test well which it- has just diilUd in the State of Br-iuei in British Romeo. The well was sin cessfully com ph-tf-I at a depth of 5290:1. with an in dial prod not ion of 170 tons a day of oil •flowing under a high gas pressure.
The British Malayan Petroleum Company was formed in 1922 to ’miti-ime the v-oi'k of exploration for oil in the State of Brunei, in which the 'Shell group had hceii interested since 1912. The British Malayan has recently achieved considerable success with shallower wells, and las developed a production of a heavy oil which is suital le for use as a fuel oil Admiraltv quality without requiring any ti'citmeiit. These shallower wells, of which there are 12 producers, are <ap able of a total out-pal of about 800 tons iLiilv. The new d'scovevy of a light untie oil with a petrol content of about 3,0 per cent, within the British Empire is verv welcome.
