NEW NAPIER HOTEL
OBJECTION BY ALLIANCE
Indignation was expressed at a meeting of tho Auckland Council of the New Zealand Alliance, when it was reported that the Government had loaned £80(K) from unemployment funds for the purpose of rebuilding an hotel at Napier. Jt was stated that the money had been loaned at 44 per cent. Tn answer to a letter, the Minister of Employment had said labor was to be employed on tho work under the No. 5 scheme. In tho opinion of members of tho alliance council, the loan constituted a gross misuse of unemployment funds. It was decided to enter a strong protest.
