COROMANDEL FIELD RICH ORE INDICATED (Per Press Association.) THAMES, this day. Reports from Coromandel show that Mr. Sam Chapman and his son have discovered a now leader containing valuable ore. Yesterday, <>olb. of ■specimen stone was lodged in the Bank of New Zealand. Mr. Chapman, jun., holds a miner’s right over 15 acres between the Pukowhau claim and the old battery site on the slopes of Tiki Tange. Both have been prospecting for some time. About a week ago they discovered a leader and drove on it for 10ft, when they discovered indications of rich ore. When the news spread there was a mild rush to tho scene and several claims were pegged out adjoining the Chapmans’. The ground in the vicinity had been worked in the earlier days when much gold was taken out.
