E., of the McKenzie Memorial Hospital, Tientsin, China, is visiting Napier in the interests of the London Missionary Society. Mr. J. Newman Barker, formerly chief inspector, has resigned bis seat on the Australian board in Melbourne of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, the state of his health compelling him to take this course.

Guests at the Masonic Hotel this week include Messrs. T. MeMasters, H. Gordon, M. Macßeth, M. Wiiitham, E. A. Westwood, M. Stewart, and S'. Harris (Wellington); Mr. G. D. Donovan (Moiu); Mrs. Hurd-Wood (Hamilton); Mrs. Bailey (Auckland); and Mr. L. Mansfield. ‘ Mrs G. A. Hurd-Wood, honorary organising secretary of the New Zealand League for the Hard of Hearing, accompanied hv Mrs Bailey, of Auckland, arrived in Gisborne last evening in the course of a tour throughout Now Zealand to explain the aims and objects of 'the league and to enlist public sympathy with the movement. Aire Hurd-Wood is to address the Rotary Club on Monday afternoon and a public meeting in the ‘council chambers in the evening.
