D Grant, who lias twice been runnerup for the New Zealand amateur gol championship, won the Carnegie Shie d for the second time recently, when, m the final of the Dornoch tournament, L* heat 1). Murray, 3 and 2. Grants previous victory in the event was gained m 1908, before Murray was born, the Times lecalls that the Carnegie Shield was awarded to the Royal Dornoch Club many Years ago by the late Mr. Audiev. Carnegie, and that the annual tournament for possession of the trophy always brings a good entry. Sixteen players qualified lor the 'inatcli play staged-earlier in the week, the two local players.-Grant and Murray, surviving for the final. The game was keenly contested, and there was never more than a hole between them until the fifteenth, which Grant won. to become two up. He also won the sixteenth, and so won -the match by 3 and 2.—Auckland Herald.
