An energetic, committee has the arrangements well in hand for tho MotuMatawai Sub-Union 'hall. Miss Sum’s orchestra has been engaged. A good supper is promised. Bishop Liston conducted & confirmation service in the Dlatawai Hall on Monday afternoon. Two adults and many boys and girls were presented by Father Lyons, who was congratulated on the thoroughness of the instruction given. Despite tho heavy showers, there was a good attendance of members of tho Roman Catholic Church, many travelling from Dlotuhora, Ralcauroa, and outlying districts. After the ceremony a sumptuous afternoon tea was provided. The Saturday school euchre tournament was continued in the stadium. The ladies’ prize was won by Mrs C. V. Smith and the gentlemen’s 'by Mr E. Lynch. Dfr and Mrs Bulst won the consolation prizes. Mr W. Davies, who is leading for the men’s aggregate prize, has been transferrctir'to Papatawa. Mr and Dire Davies and family left Matawai by the afternoon train on Tuesday, on route to their new home. Dir Davies was an energetic member of the local school committee, and lie and his wife and family will ,be missed in the community.
