SOCCER

(To tho Editor of tho Herald.) Sir,—With reference to tho letter published in your Monday’s issue signed “Soccerite,” it seems to me that the writer of that letter is a poor supporter of the “grand old game” and further, it is apparent that “Soccerite” has somo feeling, not against the unsportsmanship or bad language of the players, but against the management of the association. If that is not so, why not come out in the open and discard the noin de plume. I would point out that my executive is doing its utmost to keep the game clean, and its policy is to take drastic action in cases of misconduct.

Whilst admitting offences Which recently occurred, I do not think such conduct has been going on for several weeks, and as secretary of the association I have received excellent reports of the conduct of players. Further, I have not yet missed a Saturday on the Reserve this season and would have reported to my executive any cases of misconduct pointed out to me. A little assistance instead of unnecessary criticism would help tho game, but it appears “Soccerite” is out to upset (lie “table.” In conclusion, I would appeal to all parents and true supporters of the code to treat “Soccerite’s” letter as “a scrap of paper.”—Yours, etc., H. IRELAND, Hon, Secretary, P.15.E. Association.
