MATAWHERO STOCK SALE A DRAGGING MARKET There was a very large yarding of fat sheep at the Dlatawhero stock sale today, and the sale was dragging, with a downward tendency. Rest sorts of ewes made from 6s to 6s Bd, but generally ewes sold between 5s and 6s. Lambs made 7s 9d and 7s lOd, and secondgrade ewes 5s 6d. A good many pens were passed in. Prices were :
"Ewes. —51 at 5s 6d ; 40, 5s 6d ; 25, 6s 4d; 7,5 s9d ; 29. 5s lOd ; 15, 5s 4d; 20 5s 6d: 40. 5s 7d; 35 prime Lincoln, 6s 7d : 92. 4s 6d ; 53, 5s 8d ; 20. 6s 6d; 20. 6s 8d; 11. .5s Id; 20, 5s 9d; 55, 5s lOd ; 54, 5s lOd ; 65. 2-ths, fairly good size, good store condition, 8s 6d : 35, 2-ths, ’Downs, tillable, 8s 3d ; 8, good condition, with 8 lambs, 11s 9d. Lambs.—9 at 7s 9d ; 8,7 s lOd. STORE SHEEP The hulk of the entry of store sheep sold before lunch at juices similar to those ruling at the previous sale, breeding ewes of good quality and condition, nji to 5 years, guaranteed and r.w. 'Down rams, made 8s lOd and 10s: others, in fairly good order, and young, made 7s 4d ; hoggets made 8s 5d for well-grown woolly ones, and good shorn hoggets made 7s Id ; good class medium size hoggets made 6s 4d to 6s lOd: wethers made 8s lid to 9s 6d, and empty owes, which were not very attractive, brought 2s 6d to 3s 6d. Prices : Empty ewes.—64. good, forward, 3s 6d; 33. fair condition, 3s 3d ; 39, fair condition, 3s 3d.
Wethers.—22, good fresh stores, 9s 6d; 86. average stores, 9s 8(1; 32, fresh condition, 8s lid ; 15, fair stores, 6s 9d. Hoggets.—l2l4 good frame, shorn wethers, 7s 1011; 114, big, good condition. woolly ewes, 8s sd; 107 medium size, fairly good condition, woolly, 6s 4cl; 36, fresh condition, fairly good size, 6s 10d ; 82 shorn, good size, fresh condition, 7s 7d ; 71. good, woolly. 7s fid; 70, good size and condition, woolly, 7s lid ; 25, fresh condition, fair size, 6s 9d ; 18, fresh condition, fairly good size. 7s Id. breeding ewes.—66, 5-yr., to ’Down rams, showing well, full of condition, 8s 10c); 75, 5 and 6vr.. fair condition.
