AEROPLANE MISHAP
FIRE AFTER CRASH PILOT RESCUES PASSENGERS (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United. Press Assn.) (Received June 10, noon.) SYDNEY, June 9." An aeroplane, piloted by F. Ashley, and carrying four passengers, was forced to land in a fog near Narrowmine, and burst into ilames. Ashley, although slightly injured, with great presence of mind dragged all the passengers to safety unharmed. Three minutes later tlie machine was smouldering ruins. Ashley was enveloped in fog for several hours, and eventually tried to make a forced landing as his petrol was nearly exhausted. He crashed into a wheat field. Ashley was stunned and bleeding from wounds on the head and arms, but dragged himself from the seat and succeeded in rescuing the passengers, including two ladies, hefiore the flamos reached the part of the cabin in which they were trapped.
