Lyttelton.—June 10: Arrived, Maori, 645 a.in., from Wellington; Norfolk, 7.30 a.m., from Timaru. The m.s. Awahou sailed at 12.10 p.m. to-day for Wellington. On his return to-day from the East Coast, where lie has been holding; the quarterly series of Magistrate’s Court sittings, Mr. P. H. Harper, S.M., mentioned that the sittings had been shorter than usual, and there had been a complete absence of criminal business of a serious character. It was gratifying to note the clear record of the last three months, which compared very favorably with those ,of most other quarters in the past 'year or two. Among the civil matters dealt with by His Worship on the Coast, none involved the raising of any unusual points of law, and practically all the cases were of interest only to the parties immediately involved.
