INCOME TAX PAYMENTS

THE INSTALMENT SYSTEM (Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, last night. According to a statement by tiio Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes last night, the actual details of the new income tax instalment system, to be inaugurated by legislation ►his week, have Vet to be worked out, but the general idea is that after the initial payment of a portion of the tax, instalments can follow at the discretion of the taxpayer. Mr. Forbes said he was not sure whether tbe practice adopted in Britain woul j be closely followed in the new arrangement here. He thought the method would lie of substantial benefit to the individual who wished to make his payments at half-yearly periods.
