MANY STILL UNSOLVED GROWING ALARM IN LONDON LONDON, March 27. There is growing alarm in London at the increase in crimes of violence. Newspapers are pointing to five recent unsolved murders in London, and complain that Scotland Yard works in the dark, instead of using the searchlight of press publicity. The latest London victim of bandits was Susanah Emberton, 56, a housekeeper, who was attacked at her employer’s house at Croydon and died of head injuries. Police are endeavoring to trace two strangers seen in the vicinity in a blue saloon car. Yorkshire police are investigating tho mysterious murder of Joseph Swaine, 62, a ‘farmer, who was found dying in an outhouse at Skipton on bis wedding day. A wallet containing cheques and money is missing. Swaine was engaged to Aliss Gwendolen Forrest, 25, who last saw him on the previous evening. She declares that, robbery could have been the only motive for the crime. Blood-stained clothing was found in a field 22 miles from Skipton, the police following the trail with blood-hounds. Masked bandits in Ayrshire raided a lonely farmhouse, owned by Andrew Smith, and lined a 15-year-old servant, girl and six children against a wall. One terrorised them with ft revolver while the other ransacked the house. Two suspects have been arrested.
