For the first time in its history, the transactions of the Munawatu and West (Mast Agricultural and Pastoral Association for the year iust ended have resulted in an unfavorable balance of £lOl.
Prompted by a desire to save most of the £703 a year which it has been paying annually in insurance premiums on policies covering county workmen and nlant, the Piako County Council has decided to carry its own insurances in future, and meet claims out of the gienernl fund. The chairman explained that the Raglan Countv Council bad been carrying its own insurances for the past 13 years, and as a result had saved, so it was considered, between £BOOO and £9OOO, ••
