BOXING

JOHNS BEAT LECKIE Harry Joints, lightweight champion of New Zealand, last week defeated Johnny Lecdcic, featherweight champion, on a 15-round bout staged by the Oreyinoutli Boxing Association. The light went the full distance and was full of interest. Johns showed superior ringcruft, accounting for uoarly every round. Leckie showed dashes of brilliancy, but failed entirely to master the tactics of his opponent, who has improved out of all knowledge since his appearance in the New Zealand championships at drevinonth in 1930.
