GISBORNE SUCCESSES Despite Hie most unfavorable weather which ruled for the open! rtf? of the annual music and elocutionary competitions at the Nattier Drill Hall on Thursday night there was a stood attendance present and the duality of tile performances proved exceedingly pleasing. The competitions were continued on Good Friday. Gisborne competitors secured the following awards: Piano, under 14 years.—-Miss Eirene Halbert, Gisborne, X- points, 1, Vocal solo and accompanist.—lVr. Athol Allan, Gisborne, !M points, 2. Character recital.—Miss Sheila Monro. Gisborne, N, r > points, 2: Miss .lime Williamson, Gisborne, highly commended. Vocal solo, girls under IS years.— Miss S. Jiradfield, Gisborne, 7."> points, cdtial for second. Sacred solo, gentlemen.—Mr. Athol Allan, Gisborne, highly commended. Test recital, ladies. —Miss S. Bradlicld. Gisborne, very highly commended. Vocal solo, boys under 11 years.- — Maser Noel Mahon, Gisborne, 7!) points. 1. Piano, under 12 years.—Miss Sheila Minim, Gisborne, 7X points, 2. Vocal solo, girls under 111 years. — Miss Eirene Halbert, Gisborne, S2 points, equal, 1. Recitation, girls under 12. —Miss Valerie Williamson. Gisborne, highly commended: Miss .Sheila Munro, Gisborne, commended. Btiss solo.—Mr. Athol Allan, Gisborne, 7!l points, ( qua!, 1. Test recital, ladies.—Miss S. Bradfield, Gisborne, commended.
