EASTER BOWLS

THE BURTON CUP RESULTS OF FIRST DAY The, annual Easter tournament for the Burton Cup sponsored by tho Poverty Bay Bowling Centre was commenced on the three Gisborne greens yesterday in threatening weather. All greens were a little heavy in the morning as a. result of the light; showers,, but apart from this they were playing well.

Prior to the opening on the various greens, brief welcomes were extended to the visitors, who had come from Hastings. Wairoa, Tolaga Bay, Te Karaka and Opotiki. In tfie absence cf the president, Mr. J. A. Wyatt, the following officiated in this respect: Mr. W. J. Sinclair, on the Kfibutia green; Mr. D. G. Robertson, at Poverty Bay; Mr. B. Dud field, at Gisborne. Two rounds in each section were played yesterday, and a. further two rounds were played to-day. The section play is to be completed on Monday.
