MR. THOMAS’ TRIP OFF LETTER FROM PREMIER (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Asian.* (Received Dec. 2, 11 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 1. Mr. MacDonald, in a letter to Mr. J. 11. Thomas, (Gated: “I have been considering your projected visit to the. Dominions -to ’prepare the way for an agreement. It once appeared that, we could span! yon for a month or two from Cabinet and other consultations; but that becomes more and more unlikely. I liad intended a health trip to the West Indies, but it had to be abandoned. Could you not just go to South Africa and return before the House meets again.’” Mr. Thomas replied: “I am not tin mindful of our •difficniltie.s and the necessity for full Cabinet consul la-tion-s. "While I would have liked to try to hammer out some of the dr Hi cullies in connection with the Im peri ail Conference by personal negotiation, J am sure your advice is best, and I am acting accordingly.” Mr. Thomas leaves on January 8 on a health, trip. He will spend four days in South Africa, and returns on February 22.
