VOTING DAY TO-MORROW

GENERAL ELECTION ISSUE EARLY GISBORNE DECISION REMINDERS FOR ELECTORS Everything is in train for the taking of to-morrow’s poll on the question oi t'arhanientaiy leprcsuuuiuoii, anil uy / o’clock to-morrow evening the issue will nave been decided throughout the Dominion. It is anticipated that- the first progress results lor me Gisborne electorate will be available within a tew minutes oi the closing of the poll, and the usual arrangements have been made lot tilt; anuouiKemeut ol me individual returns to the public. There should be sufficient returns available to place tiie issue of the Gisborne contest beyond dount before 10 p.m., though the returns from other electorates will keep the notice-board operators busy and the public interested until ail early hour on Thursday morning, judging by past experience. For the information of electors, tiie list of polling booths in the Gisborne electorate is reproduced, as follows Alasonic Hall, No. 1 Masonic Hall, No. 2 Masonic Hall, No. 6 Lartk'tt’s Burnside Frusertown Abercorn Hall, No. 1 Abercoru lJali, No. 2 Y.ALC.A., No. 1 I'.ALC.A., No. 2 V Wbitiray’s Hall No. 1 T Whinray’s Hall, No. 2 (Jvenden’s (KaitiJ Gisborne School, No. 1 Gisborne School, No. 2 Wallen’s (Gladstone load) Haiti School Kopuawhara Aiahia Alakuraka Alangupapa School, No. 1 Alangapapa School, No. 2 Mangapoike Manutuke Morere • • Muriwai Nuiiaka Opoutania Paparatu Reay Bridge Tungitere Tarewa Te Ha para, No. 1 Te Hapara, No. 2 Tihara Tukemokihi Waikokopu Waingake Wairoa School Wairoa Gaiety Wairoa. North Clyde Wairoa Library Whakaki Wharerata Electors should need m .reminder that the contest lor the Gisborne seat, is a triangular one, the candidates being: David William Coleman, Harry Douglas dcLnutour, William Douglas Lysnar (sitting member). The total roll for the Gisborne electorate stands at 12,497, as compared with 11,971 for the 1928 elections. It is anticipated that the polling will be heavy, owing to the keen division of opinion engendered by tho campaigns of the respective candidates, which to some extent will offset the fact tlujt the prohibition and continuance organisations have taken no hand in the preparations for this election. At the 1928 elections a total of 9847 votes were cast in the electorate, of which Air. Lysnar polled 3746, Mr. 1). W. Coleman 3400, and Air. W. Lissant Clayton 2(135, the number of informal votes being OS. In view of all the circumstances of the current contest, it is likely that the total vote to-mor-row will closely approximate that cast at the 1928 elections.

Final campaign addresses will bo * given by the respective candidates for the Gisborne seat this evening. Mr.- H. D. deLautonr, the unofficial Coalition candidate, will speak at the .Opera House, Gisborne, and Air. W. ]>. Lysnar at the Majestic Theatre, Gisborne, while Mr. D. W. Coleman will devote the evening to an address to Wairoa electors, as previously notified. In connection with Mr. Lysnar’s meeting, arrangements have been made for loud-speakers to convey the gist of the candidate’s speech to interested electors who are unable to secure scats in the theatre.
