FIELD DIVORCE SUITS SYDNEY, Nov. 19. The Field divorce suits, which are said to bo costing £SOO a day, may run up a legal bill of £20,000 before the final curtain falls. Piled up before the array-of 10 counsel are pyramids of typescript, embodying millions of words. _ The stream of witnesses is incessant. Dp till to-day, including those abroad, 35 l have been examined, and they have spoken more than 1,000,000 words. Were the typewritten folios placed end on end they would cover many miles, , \t least, 25 more witnesses will be called, examined, and cross-axammed. Then Mrs. Field lias to go back in the box. and so has Field. The three corespondents have not yet opened their | cases. The addresses of counsel will occupy the better part, of a fortnight, because of the huge masses of evidence to be sifted. The judge will take many "days to sum up It is unlikely that the case will end until just before Christmas, which w ill give it a run of about 60 days. The Bakewcll case ran for 36 days, and the Vincent case 23 days.
