CONFERENCE PROPOSAL WIDESPREAD SUPPORT (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received October 30, 2 p.m.) LONDON; October 29. The proposals of Mr. R. P>. Bennett and Mr. G. W. Forbes to call an Imperial Conference are welcomed by business men. “Trade agreements were never more urgently necessary,” declared Lord Elibanlc, chairman of the Federation of Empire Chambers of Commerce, “and conditions were never more favorable. The federation is continuing to do its utmost to promote Imperial Preference.”
BRITISH COLUMBIA’S PLANS (Received October 30. 2 p.m.) VICTORIA (TI C.), October 29. Following the Imperial Conference proposals, Mr. Tolraie declared that British Columbia would begin to prepare at once’to make representations lor greater trado with the. Dominions, particularly Australia and the United Kingdom. Tt is likely that material British preferences will be proposed.
